       Well, finally finished Doll's Nest. I can confidently say it was a fun game, and I had a good time playing it. The environmental detail and sound design along were well worth the price of entry, but the gameplay, mobility, and sheer versatility of loadouts and weapon/robot part combinations you could put together were also very strong points.It does have a problem with communicating information to the player. Sometimes levels are designed without much thought to where the player would be looking or how it would channel them through it. I missed an important boss area because the ramp leading down to it was hidden out of sight past a ledge and there was nothing drawing my attention towards it. This lead to me wandering around multiple areas for several hours trying to find something I'd missed before I stumbled across it.The absolute wall of stats you need to figure out to get deep into the mechanics might be a bit much for anybody not hopped up on tylenol, but I managed to muddle through with trial-and-error, experimenting with parts and guns until I got a loadout that "felt right" and made me not die repeatedly.Story was minimal, but this doesn't seem like the type of game to want to get bogged down with it. Much like DOOM or The Citadel, the gameplay and challenge take center stage, and the story is just the framing device that provides the impetus to send you out into its world.I sure hope Nitroplus makes more like it, if not an outright sequel (or prequel, or whatever). The word of Hod is fascinating and visually gorgeous, and I would love to have an opportunity to see more of it and blow up more stuff in it.
