       Is BeagleBone good. As a Raspberry pi replacement. I have a BeagleBone and it seems ok. But I never used. Raspberry pi. So I don't know what I'm missing

       @mcc I haven't actually booted up my Beaglebones Black in a while; I ought to dust one of them off.  As you say, a nice little Linux box. I don't think I'd try running a desktop on a BBB but I assume one of those BeaglY-AI things would run a full desktop OS just great. I'm sad to see they've moved away from the dual-row CapesWhat Beaglebone do you have and what do you use it for?

       @splicer I have the "BeagleV-Fire", which is an unusual device using a SOC with an onboard FPGA. I'd been doing FPGA development but struggling with the physical parts like soldering, so I was interested in a machine that can run Linux but also directly interface with an FPGA as a peripheral. Unfortunately this project stalled out between having less free time than I expected and also the bane of every FPGA project: A bloated proprietary IDE for which support is primarily available in Mandarin

       @mcc Neat stuff! 2GB of RAM feels a little cramped but there's a lot you can do with that (and it's four times as much as in my BBBs). I'm surprised you're locked in to that one IDE.I admit that figuring out the IDEs has been a stumbling block between me and doing anything with my Spartan board. But my so-called spare time is the biggest hurdle. I feel your pain.
