@snowy remember periodically hearing in the news of these things exploding.Don't know how and why. It's possible they were just from the production

@yura from what I understand, the boiling point of oil is high enough, it's the fact that it's not sealed inside properly that causes the explosions. Also could be due to the short circuiting thermoelectric element that directly heats up the oil. I suppose that if it's working non-stop and it's going to be the main point of failure.

@yuraI genuinely had such a configuration of electric heater when I was living in the country during COVID lockdowns. I've been doing my best to avoid using the damn thing, but in October it got too cold and I had no other choice but to resort to it. I have once gotten drunk and fallen asleep with this thing on and windows sealed shut — I think I just got lucky waking up two hours later with a horrible headache, I could very well have suffocated :sigh:
