@futurebird Thing I remember about 'Crocodile Dundee' most is, after seeing it, my mom said the end where everyone lifts them up to walk to each other on the subway platform to kiss was the most realistic New York City thing ever.

@GroupNebula563 IDK. Most cops live in the suburbs unless they are gay, which many many many NYPD are, good lord. I'd expect local ICE to be the same?

@futurebird It took me awhile to understand that, and I kind of love it.It's a town where a guy who is 6'3 and almost as big horizontal as well, covered with tattoos, who looks like he is at the tail end of his promising career in college football And looking forward to his next gig in either construction or violent enforcement, will happily give you directions to the next subway station and it's pretty great.

@futurebird “New Yorkers are kind but not nice.” For example, last time I was up there with the family, we were going into the subway. I scanned my phone for each kid, they went in, my wife went in, then I went to scan my phone again and it decided not to work suddenly. I’m standing there on one side of the turnstile trying to coordinate with my wife on where we’d meet when a local opened the exit gate and was like “fucking hell get in here, you’re taking forever” and held the gate for me.

@futurebird In the past when I brought vistors for fun I would ask someone on the street what time it was just to hear them say ‘get a watch’. I suppose that’s not mean, just good advice.
