@geoffduncan @moira Just say “new york is in new England” this makes people from here irrationally angry and although I’ve lived here most of my life as someone from the midwest I don’t think I’ll ever understand why. (it is very funny though… be subtle about it eg “New York, Hartford and other new england cities”)

@futurebird @geoffduncan @moira I used to hear that City Island (Bronx) was New England by New Yorkers even back in the day when the landfill near the bridge was active and very aromatic. It was probably due to the small town feel and the large number of small boats.

@futurebird This is particularly funny to me because somehow growing up in NE Ohio, I was of the opinion that we were, if not exactly New England, “almost New England”. I have no idea if that’s a quirk I somehow got from my parents or a common belief at the time. But if we were “almost”, surely more east and equally north would be “actually”? 🙃I was so weirded out later when people said I was from the Midwest, which I thought of as far more west. @geoffduncan @moira

@futurebird @mfennvt so basically code for "oldies", but I think that's an established genre so they have to keep coming up for new names for "music from 20+ years ago" and maybe they aren't sticking, so the youth is coming up with their own names.
