ever since all the delivery bikes went electric they’ve been getting larger. You have dual battery units, which makes the frame longer. The handlebars like to sit up high. They’re very mad max looking serious steeds. no one‘s trying to be ultralightweight anymore, but nobody is delivering packages on a hot rush. that trade is gone. It’s all big food deliveries so you gotta have a milk crate on the back and a pizza holder on the front. bike looks like it could plow snow.

@futurebird maybe i'd be happy with a scooter that never goes above 30mph so i don't have to think about splitting my head open

@futurebirdIn Germany they are morphing into small lorries, with cabins and all. Still small enough to fit a cycle lane, but pretty overpowered.Still better than cars, I guess.

@futurebird I love my e-bike, but we need to have a serious discussion about updating the rules of the road *and* sidewalk.

@futurebird @mcc Those likely aren't bikes, maybe motorcycles or moped. Max speed is 28 mph on regulated electric bikes and they can't have a throttle if they go over 20 mph.

@futurebird Yup e bikes are regulated, in my city only class 1 e bikes are allowed places where regular bikes are allowed. They go to 20 mph and require pedaling. Here's a run down https://www.bosch-ebike.com/us/everything-about-the-ebike/stories/three-class-ebike-systemThat being said there is effectively no road enforcement so unregulated and inappropriate mopeds and motorcycles are used as if they were a bike.
