Goh lands in Singapore and gets to her new apartment in Clementi. The city is reassuringly familiar and reminds her of what it was before the war, and only when she gets to her building does she realize that on the entire MRT ride home nobody stared at her.

@ww3real Kinda wondering who had been manufacturing and servicing civilian airliners for the last 5 years?

@pony @ww3real Embraer! Plus the Singapore Airlines fleet, Singapore having never really implemented much wartime austerity (Goh, after all, flew to a trip in Indonesia before her cell was caught).

@Alon @ww3real embraer doesn't currently make the most important part of their jets and they don't seem to be planning to in the "expected" time frame though? there are not very many suppliers who can and with the scale of airforces you written in, it's unimaginable they would ever have a single spare for anyone?

@pony @ww3real Embraer isn't exporting to the air forces and is explicitly expanding its civilian offerings for e.g. the Latin American elites.

@Alon @ww3real yeah but how many years of r&d you'd need to get at least workable replacement engine, like, ok, whatever range, whatever fuel efficiency, whatever noise, we can waive all away, but it has to fly the plane as is or with minor changes and still have some commercial viability
