@stux Not just "should not", actually "must not". They're not allowed to follow illegal orders.

@stux Rank and file service members need to refuse to be deployed to US cities in violation of Posse Commitatus. Face courts martials instead. We need to see the military refusing Trump's illegal orders.

@stux if only the US had an actual basic law system like you know GERMANY after the second world war for OBVIOUS reasons. instead they have a utterly outdated constitution thats being used as toilet paper and a cobbled together amalgamation of decree's and verdicts'/judgments

@stuxMost Americans don't accept that court and its international laws apply to them. Indeed it may be unlawful in the USA to accept otherwise. Hence it may not be an argument that is effective if a US soldier is ordered to do something that is illegal in countries which accept the court's jurisdiction.

@stux uumm yea. First there is a big difference between deportations (legal or illegal) and the Nuremberg trials. I don't see any gas chambers or genocide taking place. Secondly, latino and Hispanic voter communities largely voted for Trump and still approve what hes doing. Third as the CIA says the law is what its interpreted to be at the time. Technicallythe President does have the power to declare martial law. I haven't seen Federal courts blocking these actions which they could since America isnt a fascist government. So could you please tell me what laws have been broken? I would love to hear them and be corrected. I know immigration laws and people here illegally is breaking the law. I know Barack Obama has deported WAY MORE people than Trump. So I would like to understand what is going on. Please help me with this one. I hate military action. Especially domestically and seeing automatic weapons and military fatigues on the ground in American cities. But I've seen it my whole life since 9/11.

@stux The problem for US military personnel is that what is illegal is not always black and white. You can refuse orders which present immediately as illegal - e.g. 'shoot that kid'. However the process is to consult your JAG officer. Your JAG could be Ron de Santis and he's telling you that it is ok to put that hose down that guys neck. If your orders are to patrol Portland and the JAG says well SCOTUS says it's ok? Furthermore, German laws in 40s were changed to make it not illegal.

@stux Assuming we have Nuremberg trials and the Democrats don't do another fucking Bidenesque "come to Jesus moment" and sweep everything under the fucking rug in the name of "healing".

@stux There's a whole speech on Star Trek: TNG about how "I was just following orders" is bad.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbVKLfmCDxgThere are times, sir, when men of good conscience cannot blindly follow orders.
