do you ever play a game for less than five minutes and already you're thinking about designing a new type of keyboard?or does that only happen to me

@irina @puppygirlhornypost2 someone really should make a long-thin keyboard that's just like 20 more keys, and you either clamp it to the side of an existing keyboard or tape it on top

new keyboard prototype exists. Annoyingly the hardware I got is wrong, I can't use this for everything I wanted. Also, the code I was going to use to make my keyboard a USB mass storage device doesn't work... but I found some other code that does, with a minor limitation: filenames have to be 8.3. huh. THE FIRST DOS KEYBOARD?

naturally the code I have to control the screen works in arduino-pico mode and the code to do FAT12 mass storage works in pico-SDK mode.

but someday I shall figure this out. maybe I should just glue two RP2040s to each other: one does the screen, one does USB storage?

@foone that's how some of the Pimoroni stuff works. They have a RP2040 that's basically acting as a GPU

my current prototype has a problem that it has two buttons:button 1 reboots the keyboardbutton 2 is used to go to the next item, and when held for 1s selects it.Every time I test it, I forget this and reboot my keyboard pointlessly

maybe I should make it write to the flash when it selects a different item, and then activate it when it boots up. I can see no problems with this

This is the current state of my prototype. (this picture is terrible because this thing is tiny and bright, the perfect combination to be hard to photograph)

@mischif hey, this is a PROGRAMMABLE keyboard. it'll definitely be used for lazy purposes, like when I need to process something in minecraft and don't want to right click 90 times
