I'm annoyed at Arch and dynamic linking this morning. Updates to dependencies of Shotwell (photo management software) have repeatedly broken it over the last few months. Most recently gdk-pixbuf has been switched to use the glycin backend, and now I can't export rotated images, and portrait images are rendered squished. I opened a bug, but it has been dismissed as an issue with upstream and that the switch to glycin is necessary due to the security boogeyman. 😤

I probably need to find new photo management software. Shotwell seems barely maintained at this point. Unfortunately, last time I surveyed the options there weren't a whole lot to choose from that were non-destructive.

@wezm I feel your pain: I also picked Shotwell ages ago. And yeah, seems a bit dead in the water... My next step will probably be digiKam... And I've adopted Immich (self-hosted webservice - https://immich.app/ ) for backing up and managing images & videos from my devices.

@colinstu @wezm I think it's fair to say it's the most mature and featureful image management app out there... but it's a bit much to get ones head around.

@lightweight I used digiKam prior to Shotwell. I can't recall the specifics, but I had issues with it too. :-/ I used Darktable quite a while ago too, but I'm not shooting RAW anymore, so its not particularly well suited.
