I've learned recently that there are adults who do not know that 1mL of water weighs 1g. If you didn't before, now you know.

I would posit that if you are the kind of person for whom "at standard temperature and pressure" matters in a statistically significant way, either due to the need for precision or the extreme environment in which you operate..... you probably don't need me to remind you that 1mL water weighs 1g

well actually @xarvos, lowering the environment temperature to 0℃ does turn barely any water to ice and vice versa, because it needs latent heat exchange with the environment to change phasecc @darius & @th

@darius I'm always confused of what amount wheights what.Only one I can remember is a cube of 1M of water weighs 1 (Metric) Ton.And that the name metric ton, come from that I believe. Also the recipient of 1m³ for water (commonly used is agriculture) is called "tonne a eau" in french, literally "a ton for water"

@eragon @darius Well if you remember one conversion then it's just shifting decimals to get the right scale.1 decimal shift for length, 2 for square, 3 for cubes. For example, 1m is 10dm, 1m2 is 100dm2, 1m3 is 1 000dm3.

Thanks to the fediverse I have now been reminded many times over that the conversions that help me make my coffee every morning would completely fail me under non-Earth gravity conditions, or inside a hydrothermal vent, or if the water I'm using is in solid or gas form, or...

@darius I’m interested in your coffee: what proportion of coffee grounds to water do you use? I want to do a better cappuccino: do you drink it like that?
