Wayland’s clipboard protocol requires the copied-from app to remain active or the clipboard will be lost. This is because clipboard content is only ever sent app-to-app via an IPC pipe, and there is no system for the data being saved if the app closes. How is it even possible to fuck this up? Wayland people are truly amazing!

@iska old UI or PGTK? Never had this issue, but I'm not surprised. Emacs is a mess.

@icon_of_computational_sin@mstdn.starnix.network PGTK on wayland, I think some pasting it didn't like, and when you paste from a frozen emacs it freezes the other application, or something like that.TLDR wayland clipboards are horrid

@eric both that and the wayland version of xclip comes with its own daemon.
