We rushed out of our B&B this morning to make it as early as possible to Burncoat Head park to see the "world's highest tides" at low tide and walk on the ocean floor in one arm of the Bay of Fundy. It was such an incredible experience! They tell people to be careful not to walk in tidal pools and not to disturb anything. At high tide, the water reaches those trees on the "flower pot" rock.#SKtrip

We went to the Grand Pré national historic site. I'm slightly ashamed to say that I didn't know that much about the history of the Acadians, except that it was difficult and that they fought really hard to keep their traditions and language. They came from France (like my ancestors!), and were working hard in Nova Scotia, trying to stay neutral between the British and the French... making both mad. When the British won, they were still upset that the Acadians had traded with the French, so they deported them all, mostly to the US (hello Louisiana!).A lot of the ones who were deported to the northern US states came back home with nothing and rebuilt their communities from scratch. #SKtrip

We spent the evening at Keji National park, which is a dark sky preserve and it was awesome. It's still under the woods ban, so we couldn't do any of the trails, but we had a nice picnic, spent an hour with four deer eating next to us and then looked at a sky full full of stars. I even saw a shooting star!!#SKtrip
