I've got a HP EliteDesk 800 G5 with Core i7 CPU and 32 GB RAM. How do you guys handle load shedding situations? I have a mini UPS for the router and ONU, and a 650V one for the mini PC. I don't think it will give me more than 20 minutes backup. Should I gracefully shutdown after 10-15 minutes when electricity is gone and automatically boot up when electricity is back?@selfhosted #homelab #selfhosted #selfhosting #linux #proxmox #hpelitedesk #hp #ups

@ml winter is coming so load shedding won't be that frequent. For now you can shutdown after 10-15 minutes if electricity doesn't come back. But in summer there could be more issues. Maybe you can get a IPS with bigger battery for your house and shift to it if electricity goes for longer period

@Stomata The problem is I need a way to detect power outage and report to the server so that it can perform shutdown as scripted. I'll look into shops like RoboticsBD for such device. Might end up building something myself using a ESP32 board.

@ml was into homelabing but nowadays I don't get time to sit down and fix everything. Also I'm not at my home for some months.
