@Nonilex Let’s not go overboard in defense of acetaminophen. It is NOT “about the safest drug in the world,” but rather has the highest overdose risk of any OTC medication. It’s responsible for 40% of all liver failure cases in the US. It kills more than one American per day. Of course, there is no coherent argument for it being a cause of autism.

@Nonilex there is a study. Big one, reasonable quality. Thing is, the risk was tiny, and we don’t have another option. NSAIDs are teratogens. So what this is, is a dude making women worry about something so much that they then make the choice to be miserable during pregnancy instead of just fucking treating their symptoms. Is he going to announce the link between alcohol and cancer? How about risk of heavy metal toxicity from supplements? Oh, I know, what about death from COVID?

@Nonilex Send him to New Zealand (return ticket required). We have:(a) no Tylenol, nor any brand of acetaminophen;(b) folate added to all commercial bread, so folate deficiency is rare;(c) Just as much autism as anyone else.

@Nonilex NO IT'S NOT."Tylenol" is a US brand name for paracetamol (known in the USA as Acetaminophen) which, in even mild overdose, is acutely hepatotoxic. Here in the UK, before package size was limited to 16 tablets, it was the leading cause of drug-related deaths after alcohol and tobacco. Take as few as 8-12 if you have comorbidities and you can destroy your liver: death ensues in 3-7 days, painfully.(Nothing to do with autism, though: RFK is still a kook.)
