       @ephemeromorph GTK used to stand for GIMP Toolkit. GObject originated as GtkObject. GObject Introspection is abbreviated GIR (I think?). So… GIR ostensibly expands to:GNU's Not Uniplexed Information Computing Systems Image Manipulation Program Toolkit Object Introspection.

       @cassidy @ephemeromorph We have to go deeper. Pidgin used to be called GAIM, which expands to GTK+ AOL Instant Messenger, obviously, which then expands to GNU's Not Uniplexed Information Computing Systems Image Manipulation Program Toolkit Object Introspection+ America Online Instant Messenger.
