We are in a period in history that, if there is more history after the now, will provide future historians with a slow drip of COINTELPRO-like horrors to expose and discover for decades to come. For every disgusting policy out on the open there are dozens happening in secret. It will take decades to even asses the damage. If we ever get a chance. And I want to know about all of it. That desire to know keeps my spirits up and my fight alive.

One of the things I find most striking about COINTELPRO is that when these kinds of people are allowed to operate with fewer guardrails they just get really sloppy. They fall for magical thinking. They pursue impossibilities.

@futurebird i don't think i'm far off the mark saying that's the point. fascists have a very strong evangelical kind of belief, in the sense of really believing that committing daily massacres in Palestine will cause Jesus to return and kill all of the non-believers, and during that time, believing they would be somehow spared, they would kill God and take his throne to gain his power. yes, it's absolutely dangerous magical thinking. it is apocalyptic cult thought, including materialist magic, ie believing that saying certain words and practising certain occult rituals will bring unlimited power to a small group of people who basically are clapping really hard for racist fairies to exist.

@dzwiedziu @Hex I wouldn't share something like this about someone with so little sourcing. It's concerning but it's also too easy to be either fake or just a rumor.It could also be something one looks back on and says "oh wow that was real" but functionally it's kind of useless and not informative. It's a screenshot of a tweet posted on reddit.

Because when I post a link to content by left wing creators like clockwork there is a response like "oh did he/she do this bad thing" and it's not related to the content of the thing that I shared. It's about the person and it may or may not be true or credible. This just happened with Taylor Lorenz. And I do agree that it's worth looking at sources, who they are, what motivates them. That doesn't change the *content*anyways
