       @andrewt Alchemy shouldn't do absolutely nothing. It should consume a bunch of something valuable, and produce a little of something useless.

       @andrewt Repeated use of alchemy should advance the state of the art, such that it requires the consumption of ever greater amounts of valuable source material, and produces ever smaller amounts of worthless output.
