That ground wire that you have to screw in yourself, looks particularly bad, but I still have this Soviet charger for 9 volt batteries somewhere, it uses the same plug, but has a 127/220V switch that is super-flaky, damn, the charger as a whole is 🤪Doesn't look safe at all! @moffintosh @kalleboo

We're not so worried about grounding, not because negligence, but because the wiring doesn't have live/neutral wires. They're both insulated.In fact, shoddy grounding can be worse than none at all, because it can expose high voltages to the user.

@matty @kalleboo At the bare minimum it still works for fire protection, which is probably more important in an earthquake prone country like Japan. From what I've gathered off the renovation channels I watch; most electricians will install GFCI at the panel if it's not possible to run 3 wire throughout the structure.
