       I am no lawyer and those things are complicated but in the Masnick/Gargron feud (https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do/post/3lx6q54bkws2p) , why did no one point out how would Mississippi, a US state, enforce it's laws and fines upon Mastodon gGmbH, a German non-profit ? Similarly, if UK says Famichiki fails to check young Brits age, by what legal canals can't we just wipe our JP asses with it ?ELI5

       @fetchezlavache I would also like to know thisSimilar for Bluesky — they are based in the US but it seems dubious that Mississippi could do anything to anyone without some presence in the state 🤷

       @FlockOfCats @fetchezlavache regarding the UK, isn't that also a size thing? Dependant on the number of UK users.Most mastodon instances won't qualify for needing age varification.
