@Zapato Too bad he is such a retarded douche. Some of his books were really fun. Dark Tower series was The Stand rehashed, but still worth reading. The end sucked though. He must have been drinking or on drugs again.

@Zennagain Can't say I'm a fan but I did appreciate how his "Dark Tower" series interwove his other story lines. Isaac Asimov did the same thing with his "Foundation" and "Robot" series.Agree with you regarding his ending to the "Dark Tower" although he did warn us to stop reading.I actually liked the movie adaptation with Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey and appreciated the "happy ending".

@Zapato Lol! What author warns his reader to stop reading because the ending is totally unsatisfying? All that build up with zero resolution...👎I can hardly remember but I felt ripped off. Like Game of Thrones and Battle Star Galactica (the TV series).

@Zennagain Yeah. I avoided GOT due to George RR Martin's underlying morality with his characters & story arcs.I thought the modernized BSG was well done but seemed to reflect the dilemma's and morals of a progressive & pagan contemporary culture in a SciFi setting. I also did not like the ending, but it seemed consistent with their philosophical themes.I recommend "Person of Interest" for contemporary SciFi with somewhat subversive story & interwoven arcs & characters (AI's included).

BSG started well but faded as it went along.The Expanse is the only worthwhile SciFi in the last decade, but even is it drizzled with "you will eat ze bugs!" and similar propaganda.3 Body Problem is intriguing. But it'll be years before they wrap up the series. I prefer it when I haven't heard of something until it's over, so I can avoid things like GoT.@Zapato @Zennagain

@IceCubeSoup @Zennagain I've been avoiding "The 3-Body Problem" given that author's cultural background in Communist China. I think the high level synopsis involves China reaching out and contacting an alien race causing a world-wide crisis. China then rallies and leads the disparate nations in response to this impending first contact.Sounds strangely familiar....

@Zennagain That was "Minority Report" where they used a committee of three psychics/precogs to predict impending murders. I think "Pre-crime" was coined in this movie.The world building was excellent & I thought their treatment of predestination and "'pre-criminal justice" was good.Regarding "Fire Fly", I'm glad Josh Whedon was able to produce & release "Serenity" as a feature film that wrapped up the River Tam story arc & achieved much needed closure.

The one where Cruise & Emily Blunt in power suits live the same day over & over again fighting aliens is of Japanese origin and they're making a sequel this year for it.
