@futurebird i have no idea what he is about; but his creepy youtube minstrel face kept popping everywhere i went on that site. it’s what pushed me to 24/7 vpn and linux/android apps that allow me to filter out a lot of bullshit. i now never come across anything with techbros, the kkkdashians, the orange one and the whole motley crew of fascists google/youtube love to promote… FOR FREE 😡

@futurebird The only reason I even recognize the name is that he was brought up by the teacher for the class my pen-pal was in for the letters to a pre-scientist program. She was all "they are going to write about how they want to be like him and make money on youtube and therefore don't need to do well in school/go to college" and that she appreciated us trying to show adults doing other stuff that wasn't their parents or teachers since they don't always have many role models (for science in particular).

@futurebird Because you say "by choice" I've voted no.I've had a couple come on randomly in the past when I accidentally left YouTube running on autoplay, an I had a friend with an 8 year old daughter who would watch his stuff sometimes when I was visitin them.But "by choice"? No.

I know who he is and what he does, because of my daughters recaps.I have never watched any myself, and, as far as I know, he has now (unsurprisingly) been revealed as a real asshole and the whole thing is so rigged and not what it claims to be.

@iampytest1 To me this says there is huge demand for content for kids in that age range and not much out there to fill it. Mr. Beast, Roblox, Toy Unboxing videos, AI creepy copyright violation shorts... it's a wasteland for children's content. And to some extent this has always been true, but who is stepping into this gap? How do we make it viable to compassionate, artistic, creative and exciting creators to make a living focusing on content for kids?

@iampytest1 It's a much smaller scale, but as a teacher I think a lot about what keeps young people engaged, how to present my lessons so they are fun and memorable. How to make the classroom an environment they can't wait to get back to. Children aren't tiny adults and they do need content that's made *for* them. Instead many times things that are for kids just cut corners in the areas where kids don't notice as much.

@futurebird @iampytest1 We fund children’s creators. We do that either directly funding them (via publicly funded broadcasters), or we fund them via mandatory children’s programming quotas on licensed commercial broadcasters and online streams. (And this is the model in many EU countries).

*I know he's not a "prank youTuber" he is more precisely described as youTube gameshow host who literally** thinks Squid Game is an instruction manual. I was being disrespectful by getting it wrong. This was intentional and I'm not sorry. However I don't want to confuse anyone about facts. @futurebird I did check the channel out because another youtuber mentioned it and I found out that he must be the single biggest influencer I'd never heard of.None of the videos had the slightest bit of interesting or original content, and it all seemed to be different versions of "look what I can make people do for a promise of cash".

@futurebird i initially heard about him from a PR stunt he did in Germany, where he bought the full inventar of a grocery store to donate it to a soup kitchen or so.Made it even into the news.But besides, not sure he has content targeted at children, but a younger relative seems at least to know his content
