@futurebird Wow. I wonder if you could run the 2 slits light wave experiment backwards from a phased array like this to create a bunch of electrons in free space exactly where you want them.

Has science gone too far? Here is a video showing how they can make a heart using the wave poolhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqxiDQLcDss

@futurebird we could really use those creatures from The Abyss right about now

@futurebird The standing waves at the end were kind of disturbing somehow. 😆

This one looks like a timelapse but I don't think that it is. These waves are mesmerizing. And I want to eat them? The video shows a circular pool maybe 20m in diameter in an industrial space. The water is deep blue and clear. Narrow pistons on all sides push the water causing it to move in slow circles, like a puddle of glass. At the end it begins to splash in the center. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJAr56RJrBc

@futurebird this has been in real use for acoustic waves for about 20 years now (“wave field synthesis” is the name under which all the research appears).Water waves are a bit different because the wave equations behave differently in even and odd dimensions, plus the water waves aren’t purely 2d because the pool isn’t infinitely deep, but the basic idea translates fairly directly. Cool!

@futurebird They are clearly summoning demons here:
