A microscopic killer known as Naegleria fowleri, often called the “brain-eating amoeba,” is raising alarm in parts of the United States. Found in warm freshwater and inadequately treated tap water, it can enter the brain through the nose, often during sinus rinsing or swimming.Once inside the body, the amoeba travels to the brain, causing primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), a rare but almost always fatal infection. Though infections are rare, the survival rate is below 5%, and early symptoms mimic the flu—making detection difficult.Health officials warn against using tap water in neti pots without boiling or distilling it first. In this case, prevention is truly the only cure.#BrainEatingAmoeba #NaegleriaFowleri #WaterSafety #PAMAwareness #michanicalmind
