Maybe I should make a video on the merits of X11 because whilst Wayland is the direction things are moving, there are still legitimate unresolved problems that may keep someone on X11 that don't revolve around not wanting to use the established solutions

@mjdxp For Cinnamon users as well, that's a totally understandable reason. Wayback is hopefully going to bridge that gap at some point but there's a number of notable missing features right now

@mjdxp Having them run on top of a Wayland shim I think is good enough frankly, the only reason for Wayback instead of just keeping Xorg packaged is distros don't want to deal with it any longer than they have to

@BrodieOnLinux having x11 forwarding over ssh for remote desktop was pretty magical. Was trying out rustdesk for remote desktop the other day and on Wayland it's just a screenshare with heavy compression, on x11 it's a crisp proper RD solution.Currently using sunshine/moonlight has been the best RD I can get on Wayland. Still just a low latency screenshare though.

@BrodieOnLinux If I may make a suggestion, I think the case of Veyon¹ would deserve its place in such a video. When we put middle school students in front of computers, it’s a tool that can prove to be more than practical, and there’s no competitor (which is actively being developed) on Linux.¹ https://veyon.io/fr/
