@kaia I write a list of all the things I gotta do on a piece of paper in the morning and I try to commit to at least the 3 most urgent/important ones, the rest being just a bonus

@kaia My brain and the priority is how much stressed out I get when I think about the task. Otherwise I use a synced calendar.

@mia @kaia never had a bad experience with it. guess it could also be that i rarely ever update the containers :blobcatdunno: trilium has a boards feature now if you want to use them in conjunction with tree notes. haven't really tried it for a month or two yet.but i sometimes spool up kanboard for a year or two at a time. usually it just fills up with >900 tasks and the adhd wins and the whole container gets sent to hell.

@mia @kaia have also used sleek for a while. it works. it's just an electron app that faceplates over top a todo.txt file so there's always just a one-task-per-line plaintext file behind it all. leaves the options open for git or syncthing and an equivalent todo.txt program on android.though after using a ton of shit what i recommend more is likei use my self-notes in delta/arcane chat as the inbox on a phone. todo.txt or jtxboard (supports caldav sync) for the 'day file', and then don't use a task manager for projects because they all suck at it except for one or two win/mac proprietary ones. something like freeplane, trilium, whatever, for storing the scary big project planning and notes crap, and the day files are intended to be whatever you have accepted from the heap and forms a much smaller list of things that come up or were done that day.cal newport and some old stoic philosopher suggest you should plan the day file the day before when you're done working for the day (also once doing this, any further 'work' is banned until after sleep :comfyslep:)personally speaking i still need to deal with throwing out that huge pile of tasks. (some of them are things like AI papers that should have probably never gone in the task list like that anyway. but the papers might be worth saving.)

@mia @kaia newport uses paper and sells formatted journals. although his method you're meant to draw out time blocks for each task that you put on the list.its not enough to just go "it would be cool if this shit happened." you have to actually pin down the when. (there's also 'fixing' the schedule if it gets blown. ymmv.)rian doris draws heavily from newport but i don't think he likes fixing schedules. he had a module about just a few 'hinge points' and he only fixes schedules up to hinges, basically saying if you scuff the schedule bad enough just go ahead and consider everything stepped over in the book as blown and try to move on with the rest of the day as planned.

@kaia@brotka.st it's pretty simple and easy to use, projects can have a bunch of todo items in them, that's all it is pretty much but it lets you add lots of info to each item

@kaia@brotka.st https://www.omnigroup.com/omnifocus/ + a GTD-inspired workflow https://hamberg.no/gtd/this is the only task software i've found that satisfies all of my feature needs + isn't a cloud/saas app (this is paid software but it runs offline on my computer and can sync with my own WebDAV server). i like it enough i run a macos vm on my linux laptop to use it there 😅

@m0xEE@breloma.m0xee.net @icedquinn@blob.cat @kaia@brotka.stWell, calcurse is good!It has this very confusing bug when newline in output of pass gets encoded in Authorisation header: https://github.com/lfos/calcurse/issues/473It seems to be fixed upstream, but not in the version that Void ships.Otherwise it synchronises nicely with Radicale in both directions. I'm yet to figure how its notifications work, but all-in-all it's just what I wanted — I can manage tasks/appointments from a TUI thingy and it displays a nicely formatted agenda in newly-opened terminals, thanks @mia@shrimptest.0x0.st for pointing me towards this.
