       The Russian  IL-76 airplane has a "glass nose", for the navigator. Because at the time Russian aerial navigation heavily depended on ground landmarks.But I thought a glass nose would be a delightful addition to a retro-scifi spaceship.

       @nyrath it's like the opposite of the Astrodome -- a plexiglass bubble on the top of the plane for the navigator to take sextant sights https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrodome_(aeronautics)

       @nyrath There's the unusual bomber inspired downward facing glass cockpit of the ships from The Armageddon Factor (Doctor Who).It's vaguely bird-like, which fits in with the Atrios themes. And it's one of the more distinctive of Doctor Who space ship designs, which tend to be ... meh.#DoctorWho
