Just for next week, everyone switch to pronouncing "logic" with a hard "g" and "login" with a soft "g".

This reminds me (via a pure pre-☕ free association) of how my spouse always says it's too bad Kenny Loggins was a 1980s pop singer & not a Unix geek as having his exact 8 char last name to write… login: loggins… every morning on the screen would have looked really cool. Also, I very glad (& proud) that my spouse knows just the right amount of #Unix & #FOSS history to make that joke. BTW, my usual “Yes, and …”: “Yeah, his login would have to be ‘loggins’ b/c ‘footloose’ is 9 chars.”

Regarding logins for the people with the last name ‘root’, @jbqueru, & since I was talking about celebrities with amusing potential login names, Stephen Root is such a fine and diversely talented actor that I think I would, in fact, just give him root on my machine if he asked.Meanwhile, National Treasure Tom Hanks? Well, his son Colin setup the machine and Colin made his own login ‘hanks’ … So, his dad, Tom, logs in as ‘thanks’.

It's been since SYSVR3 that I attempted to make a non uid 0 user 'root', @jbqueru, and at least old-school Unix had some stuff wierdly hardcoded that required 'root' iff. uid 0 and broke *lots* if you changed it.
