@internetarchive many genealogical lists and websites are for-pay today where on the historic internet this information was available free of charge. the Way back Machine contains many such now forgotten and gone small websites with genealogy infos.

@internetarchive It should not be shut down. Archiving is the best way to keep some things still alive.Hard drives, disks, and books will wear out, but if one archives stuff, it can stay alive for a long time.

@internetarchive years ago I took a bunch of DV film of various talks at Ontario Linux Fest and uploaded the files to archive.org. The event hasn't happened in years, and while I still have the originals I'm glad to have this repo of digital history! #linux #floss

@internetarchiveOh I like the #WaybackMachine as it lets me look at old websites that are no longer around from the 90s or 2000s. The good old days of the net before everyone got online turned it into what it is now.I miss the old Hacker websites from back in the day as well.#Nostalgia
