       TIL: Your #Linux kernel provides you with version4 #uuid's. No additional software needed. Just "cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/uuid", et voilà! 😍

       @Suiseiseki You're right. What I meant was "no need to install additional software like uuidgen" or the like. I'd argue that cat or a shell can pretty much be considered "builtin" an most linux distros, hence no additional software needed.

       @oliver A shell is not built-in to distributions of the kernel, Linux.A coreutils and a shell are only built-in to GNU/Linux or BusyBox/Linux distributions.
