I wish I could bring new life to my old ass android phones. I saw one guy using one as a very nigger-rigged server and I'm curious of what I could do with them other than let them rot in a drawer somewhere at home.

@kerosene I believe Octoprint will run on stock Android, but I may be mistaken. I wish that when a phone exits support that the vendor would release the keys to allow them to run third party bootloaders and roms without drama.

@dj @kerosene I use an old Samsung Tab S2 here and it works perfectly fine, just the SSL certificates needs updating as #F-Droid has now new intermediate certificates.

@kerosene first buy all the parts in internet, because some devices are so obsolete that finding a part in your country it's more pricey than reselling old videogame cartridges.second, some of the old devices are limited by hardware so those old phone can be used for two things: music players or hotspot devices. third: if the old device has supported custom ROM updates, nice. in other case try to update in some abandonware ROMs from XDA archives.
