I'm using direct Hyper-V on Windows 11 for the first time. It seems to emulate XP pretty well, no issues, other than the mouse's Y axis being inverted.I have no idea how this happens

@foone You need to disable flight controls in your VM's settings.

@foone XP isn't too problematic, anything older is (though there were integration services for Windows 2000).Main problem with Hyper-V is that it's really intended for server/datacentre virt, so it doesn't really support 3D stuff, and integration with host works through RDP, which has its problems.

@foone @n1vux Weirdly, in certain cases it can even be best practice for performance. Particularly if you're running vms above ( half the host vcpu count - 1 ) and you're cpu bound. If you're memory bound, and vNuma works, it's best to stick with Numa counts -- which on some machines is 3. Felt weird AF moving a machine from 16 cpus to 9 and having performance increase.
