       @aral It’s marketed as an upgrade. In fact, you would be paying to disable an inhibitor. They cannot upgrade an engine remotely. They can only stop inhibiting it. They want you to buy a vehicle fitted with an inhibitor and then pay them to turn it off. Every month.The death of capitalism is long overdue.

       @aral Oscilloscopes work this way. They're all really just computers with the keyboard replaced by a custom front panel. All ship with frequency counters, image capturing, and so on. You pay for these features as "add ons," but all that means is that the maker sends a command that activates them for a limited time. When the time runs out, you buy them again.
