@futurebird There was this guy who had a taco operation in a brewery. He didn't have a truck. They were delicious and he grossly undercharged for them, I usually tipped him 100% and still felt like I was underpaying him. I really only went to that brewery for his tacos and usually got just one beer. The brewery closed and I don't know what happened to the taco guy. So yeah.

@futurebird the best Japanese food I ever had was in an Izakaya restaurant where this very eccentric chef worked and refused paycheck, but had free room & board, and insisted on doing anything he wanted. We were getting Michelin star type Japanese food for regular prices. I knew it was so special & often chatted with him at the sushi bar. I went as often as I could afford. When he left, they just couldn’t make it the same. I miss it often!

@futurebird the advertising industry has normalized abusive deceit, creating an environment in which everyting sold is sold with insultingly dishonest claimes about how everyone needs the thing now, and it will make the buyer successful and free beyond all their wildest dreams. But good craftwork requires honesty both about the limits of your abilities and the needs of your customers.

@futurebird I remember one of my favourite treats was quickly removed from production because of what seemed like a glitch in the matrix. It actually tasted great, and came at a decent price. Thus overthrowing the pricier products.What a terrible mistake to make 😂 We never saw it again. And, it seems to be a recurring theme. I was in a vegan group when a supermarket chain removed a favourite dairy free product. We never saw that again, despite its low cost and high popularity.ALDI had a cheap tofu not-chicken thing. It ended.…
