"hate speech" and "misinformation" is EXACTLY what free speech was enshrined to protect, because every single person in power believes that speech that threatens them is necessarily incorrect and "dangerous."If you cant think hard enough to realize the label of what is "truth" is the very principle in question, then you are destined to live in a cage built of your own ignorance.

They shouldn’t exist. Who gets to decide what “yellow journalism” is? Because I’d venture to bet any decent science critical of Covid vax instantly falls into that category.

Reinstating this would be a good start: The relevant legal change during the Obama administration concerns the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948.The Original Smith-Mundt ActThe Smith-Mundt Act was enacted during the Cold War to authorize the U.S. government's foreign information programs, such as Voice of America. A key provision of this act was a domestic firewall that prohibited the dissemination within the United States of materials produced by the State Department for foreign audiences. The primary concern was to prevent the government from turning its own propaganda machinery on its citizens.
