@rasterweb asks:Q5. I just started riding to work. What's your best advice for a newbie bike commuter?(Also, I am in Wisconsin and try to ride year-round, though not sure I will commute year round.)#BikeNiteQ #BikeNite #BikeTooter #Cycling #MastoBikes cc @bikenite

@ascentale @rasterweb @bikenite A5: not sure when it gets dark there and when you’d ride home but bring lights for when it does get dark. I used to forget and then go out with coworkers and then it’d be dark and I wouldn’t have lights. (I live in SF so I can’t leave lights on my bike while parking it in case someone swipes them so only bring them when it’s dark or I know I’ll be out later) #BikeNite

@genex @ascentale @rasterweb @bikenite a hub dynamo is a real game changer. No more empty batteries or stolen lights because you always take them inside but that one day you forgot.

@gudroot @genex @ascentale @rasterweb @bikenite agreed, I love my hub dynamo and fixed lights but what with the Rohlhoff on the back now I am too scared to leave my bike locked to a lamppost. There is a distinct balance between your ideal bike and a commuter bike that you can afford to replace.
