It seems like a bad, bad idea.

@scottdhansen Every 'convenience' technology offers just ends up being another way for government or employers to ask too much of you. Your cellphone is a leash and collar. Now you're working off the clock. Yay, modernity.

@PNS Hyperloop 2.0 and just as doomed to failure. Even if properly engineered and constructed, this thing will be a terrorist's dream target. Maybe if ZOG was already destroyed, we could have something nice like this.

@PNS I’m retired, so they can ask me anything they want. Dumb looks are what they’ll get, those are always free.

@PNS This super powered vacuum can move tons of train at 1,000 km/h … but it still doesn’t suck as much as your mom.

@PNS in America it would get shut down by 1000 frivolous lawsuits. China has the technological prowess of the west combined with the indifference to human life of commies or Mexico. They can kill a million people with a blink of an eye, but they get cool toys.

@PNS This is similar to what Elon Musk proposed between LAX and SFO - reducing the commute to 20min. Elon's design was quite fail safe. Instead of maglev, the tubes had a rarefied atmosphere, the cars rode on a cushion of air. Loss of (partial) vacuum would brake the cars by simple physics. Emergency exits at regular intervals, etc, etc

@PNS Something like this has been in several science fiction books. Niven's "A World Out of Time" had one to get around the world relatively quickly. Still worked after centuries.

@PNS in the immortal words of Wayne and Garth, “It certainly does suck.”
