Antivaxxers love falsely accusing scientists of censorship but in reality they are the ones trying censor science.RFK Jr just tried bullying a scientific journal into retracting a major study of 1.2  million kids that found that aluminum in vaccines do not increase the risk of autism or asthma. The journal refused.

@futurebird @luckytran My distance blurred, but educated guess: It's probably real denial.Alcoholics can add numbers, obey laws, but still believe they have no problem with alcohol, despite 4 DUIs and two divorces. Denial is what the D in DARVO stands for.Using some variations of DARVO appears to be almost necessary to authoritarianism/dominating over people. My guess is he's so far gone he can probably even tell himself he's being heroic. ex: Dear leader spews DARVO all day long.

@luckytran the covid clot shots have murdered people and injured others. until you admit this, you, and the clowns circle-jerking with you in this thread, have no credibility.if you want to know who is to blame distrust in "vaccines," look within, to your absolutist, cultist messaging.

@luckytran@med-mastodon.com Because it had bunk methods and procedures. A lot of bad science is being done in bad faith because of financial interests. It's called corruption, btw. Questioning science is science.

@futurebird @luckytran Reflexive anti-vaxx beliefs combined with cognitive deficits we can't fully understand without professional assessment. How does someone with a bent toward conspiracy theories and a history of substance abuse and brain worm damage think? We really can't understand them, can we?Our problem: why are we putting up with this and not storming Congress to remove him before he hurts more people.

@futurebird @luckytran I feel like apart from his horribly toxic upbringing, there’s a cult behavior that is sort of like sunk cost. External pressure to abandon certain beliefs causes them to dig in their heels and react with increasing violence and irrationality. They find themselves faced with the choice between admitting they were wrong all along, or aggressively striking out at the nonbelievers.

@Moss @futurebird Like Trump, I think he destroys stuff in a desperate bid to remain relevant. He has nothing else to contribute and desperately wants to be important.Besides, he and his kids (and I think the grandkids?) are vaccinated, so to him the possible harm is entirely to non-entities.

@ProcessParsnip @Moss The odd thing is I think among the various people who have been destroying our nation he is one who really thinks he's trying to do the right thing. I also think he MUST know he's in over his head. And not coming clean about that is very ugly and dangerous.

@futurebird I agree he knows he's in over his head, and tbh I think most Trump appointees do know and that makes them more likely to get defensive, similar to what @Moss was saying.I don't think he thinks he's doing the right thing, I think he knows he's a eugenicist. I mean, maybe he thinks that's right 😂 But I think he knows people will die unnecessarily from his policies, but it won't be anyone he values (he thinks) so he's cool with it.

@futurebird @luckytran I suspect it's to do with a generalised attack on scientific method, in order to discredit climate science and keep oil prices high. And to position this administration as arbiters of truth.

@jameshowell @futurebird @luckytran The dripping contempt wasn't obvious, you kept too straight a face for me to tell. I'll avoid playing poker with you (well, I avoid it entirely).I don't have compassion for RFKII. He's not a mindless animal, he possesses a brain capable of observation, deduction, and introspection. The tragedies in his life did not rob him of those faculties. His complete failure at those tasks is not because he's incapable but rather because he CHOOSES to reject them.

@VulcanTourist @jameshowell @luckytran Hey. I feel bad for starting this. I have a bad habit of obsessing over people whose actions I can't understand at all. I think I understand how Stephen Miller works better than RFK. James has a good theory. I didn't take it as an excuse. People have a right to work to stop both of them from causing more harm with no regard for their feelings. Or using their feeling against them to triage as much as is possible at this point.
