@deprecated_ii tbh if you follow manufacturer recommended maintenance intervals these days you absolutely will break something (namely the transmission). The Subaru cvts are doubly bad about this, they are cheap shitty units from their Nissan JV mates to a car too big for it, and they recc fluid changes every 100k or something totally retarded

@Paultron-3030 you would have to be a dumb nigger to listen to the people who are in the business of selling you a *new* car when it comes to maintaining your *old* car. this applies to all manufacturers and all dealersmost people are dumb niggers. this guy was a dumb nigger. a 2018 forester isn't a bad machine just because a dumb nigger failed to maintain it. CVTs certainly are shit but they do last awhile if they are *actually* maintainedpeople are going to have to wise the fuck up, unless they enjoy getting rinsed for all they're worth by dealer service departments. fluids are cheap, new transmissions and engines are not

@PurpCat @deprecated_ii sorry! The auto manufacturer decided to make this transmission a sealed unit that requires special proprietary connectors to connect vacuum hoses to to get the fluid out, which they only give to their dealers. Its a service life thing not them trying to capture a market :^)

@Paultron-3030 @PurpCat the subaru cvt does have drain and fill plugs at leastrelated to this, oil changes that vacuum out the oil from the top instead of draining it from the pan surely leave shit in the pan that would've otherwise flowed out. that's not gonna help engine life

@deprecated_ii @PurpCat @Paultron-3030 I may be wrong on this, but I think Lineatronic I and II must be cared for, because they are the only CVTs in the industry that use a real chain. The metal-on-metal contact in them requires a specific fluid for longevity. So this is probably why they retain the drain plug.
