@lain It's understandable if the law wants to hold accountable to people that deliberately and willingly put their own health on the line but I bet this same law isn't applied to morons that get drunk, hop on their car and crash into incoming traffic.

@sally @yew i suppose it's because there used to be no actually effective weight loss drugs and they wanted to prevent people getting amphetamines this way.

@lain @sally @yew ephedra, but companies started overusing it and governments banned it instead of reigning it in because governments are all businesses that jack themselves off on telling people what to do

@lain @sally Seriously? It’s because there is more tax money to be paid out to the manufacturers of the many drugs you will be on due to the consequences of obesity. You being fat and dying early sends more money to their friends and keeps you from collecting social insurance in your old age.

@lain Not entirely true: some private insurers do pay and it's not illegal. However, the public health insurace scheme doesn't cover this kind of medication, that's correct. https://www.privat-patienten.de/arzneien-und-hilfsmittel/werden-abnehmspritzen-von-meiner-pkv-erstattet/
