@stux @EUCommission it was broken well before Trump.By the way, our European system isn't much better. It was well clear when the Greek crisis happened, but everyday is clearer and clearer, with Von der Leyen bowing to the floor to the desires of the Orange dictator.I happen to be European, so it hasn't been my choice - but, either we change this or we'll end up not very differently from the US.

America has been in decline since basically when JFK was shot. The decline cross-cuts economics, culture, food, medicine, science, education and governance. It's so broad and all-encompassing that it's almost impossible to point to it and say "there it is".But you see it when you look at the divorce rate, obesity, suicide rate, lawyers per capita, and life expectancy.A lot of people in the US are cheering Trump because his economic policy has put a lot of people back to work, and you can't really deny lived experience... But I don't think Trump is actually going to change the direction the US is heading in, so maybe just a breath of air while drowning...

Unemployment is the number of people currently claiming public money because they recently lost their job, so it's not a good number to use.A better number is Labor Participation ( https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm ) because that's the % of the total population who have a job. Apparently it hasn't gone up or down.That said, if there's rising unemployment as you say, but the Labor Participation is stable, that means there are people losing their jobs, and other people who didn't have jobs for a long time getting jobs - which aligns with the narrative about rural jobs and factories re-opening...
