@stux Ours used to be the same. At least she had the courtesy to make a "mwaa" (there's something moving in my mouth) noise as she came in with it. One time she helpfully brought a small frog back and released it just in front of a filled bookcase. Froggy saw a gap at the skirting board and went for it. That was fun...

@stux my cat Lenny does this but he knows enough to kill it when he is done tormenting the poor thing. If I go to catch it he will grab it. Then I just grab him and throw the whole lot back outside!

@stux cat in my old family house signalled to me where the mice were in our garage but wouldn't catch them himself (although this was soon after I meowed against and chased away the neighbours cat who had been bullying him, so maybe he thought I was "pride leader" 😺 ). Of course the entire nest of mice got away (I saw the mother and her young running out down the alleway a few weeks later) but they turned out to be yellow-necked mice (geelhalsbosmuis / grote bosmuis) which were rare in that region so maybe we were both just protecting the wildlife 😁

By now I've caught so many mice so I'm totally okay with them, this one saw a chance and crawled intro my pants and hid on my leg 😆 I'd let it stay there for a bit to get clear of Washy but unfort it was a little too fast for me to catch it

@stux We had to impose border control and customs check as they regularly brought home both mice and birds. One mouse was left in our bedroom and we had no idea what was smelling so funky. We found it at the floor by the bed, with maggots feasting underneath it! Yuck!

@stux ... Well, you're obviously no good at this, all the stuff you bring home is already dead.

@stux When I was in 1st grade I had a little tuxedo who would bring home rats that were bigger than he was, too big for him to kill. First time he did it, we heard him meowing on the porch and opened the door. Rat ran in, kitty jumped on it, my mother screamed, my father came out of the shower naked with the toilet brush in his hand. Couple smacks with the handle and ratty was an ex-rat. Kitten was upset that his playmate was no longer fun. After that, we'd check the situation when kitty meowed.
