Here is a good read about all of that spam from Democrats. If it felt cheap and corrupt that's because the people running were!I'd imagine that pointing out this piece to your reps could help get these people out of the game. It's a little work, but if you can find spam with your reps name and point it out to them they might not even know who is collecting money with their name.

@futurebird As I've written many times before -- having this kind of money go to con men does a lot less harm than having it go to its intended purpose. We'd be in even worse shape if the Democratic establishment was stronger.

@jochie I mean, if political donations are your thing, going directly to the candidate would minimize some kinds of waste. Networking with local groups that always need help and money can have more impact. Sending 20 buck from your phone to some general cause is always going to be higher risk.

@futurebird my theory for why we're in this mess has long been that the leadership and functionaries in the Democratic party prefer fundraising off of the outrageous things Trump and his cronies do than winning elections, because it's simply more profitable for them.The outrageous corruption of the Republicans makes Democrats look normal by contrast, but the motivations are similar. They're rich and like being rich and if losing makes them richer, that's what they've got to do.
