@stux ya know. I hear you. But I really like that sub stack has an app that I can just scroll through the latest blog posts from the sub stack platforms that I either subscribe to or read for free. I went to the Explorer ghost page here. https://explore.ghost.org/ and I wish that they had the RSS links next to everyone they were showcasing on this page. Because then I could add the links easily to some generic RSS reader and get the same experience.

@stux Unless I’m missing something or there’s another app out there that could give me that experience for those who publish using ghost. I just don’t want my email box any more cluttered than it already is and the links on the explorer.ghost.org page all go right to the email sign up page for everyone they are showcasing

@RoxanneG I thought every Ghost blog had RSS by default but upon checking my site does not! It could be because it's installed with another database that is offically not supportedBut normally you can add /rss https://gamelab.gl/rss for example

@stux @RoxanneG I have migrated from Substack to Ghost for the reasons you state, but the functionality is absolutely not the same. I can’t say I regret migration, but professionally it has been problematic to find all the work arounds, like networking, rss feeds and audio and video hosting that were integrated in Substack. I haven’t been able to use the Ghost Explore feature-still going back & forth with tech support. Not everyone can migrate easily. Alas.

@stux @RoxanneG It'd still be a nice UX improvement if the explore listing had the RSS links right there instead of expecting people to know they can add /rss.

@nukleos Nothing! WordPress is also a wonderful option 😉 I keep returning to Ghost after many years using WordPress though, since it's acting more like a single page app and the built-in sub system is just amazing

@stux I think I read that #HeatherCoxRichardson said she can't leave substack because of the size of her following (~1.7million) do we think #Ghost can handle that? How could we convince her?

@stux How do you set up a site for Ghost...? Do you need to buy a separate PC or something?I want to host a quick blog for my solo tabletop rpg journals but since i was disappointed about Substack's stance on nazism i wanted to find a better alternative. Wordpress feels too much for me because of the template mess. I want a quick setup like Substack's.
