to be honest with modern car tech this is probably unnecessary unless the road is prone to icing over. but when we had a LADA in USSR it would be defeated by the tiniest slope. i remember seeing a western car ( it was like a Honda Civic ) just fly up a steep street in Kiev as a kid and i could barely believe it. when i left Ukraine the cars there still didn't even have fuel injection.these days i am a lot more concerned going down than going up. if it's a long descent you could overheat the brakes. again, there are technological solutions to this but we have to engineer for the worst case scenario like some overloaded truck with 500,000 miles on the odometer.

@9c2e0a870413773cb915b9c9cd2e1cbd17e53ae2b0a86aba5e5bf0fc13c420d2 Not just icing, but also soil quality matters here. You don't want those roads who destroy themselves with heavy rain weeks because of roots, mud and rocks moving out. India and China have ton of those issues. The other problem is "trucks". It's not just slow for them (and everyone behind) to move over that hill, but going downhill requires lot of stress to their breaks and create accidents. This is a 1-1 bi-directional road after all.

if you want to be outside in Florida in the Summer you have to either be in the pool or wait for the sun to setwhich seems preferable to shoveling snow which is the only thing you can do outside in Boston in winterwhere would move to if you could move anywhere in US ?

@9c2e0a870413773cb915b9c9cd2e1cbd17e53ae2b0a86aba5e5bf0fc13c420d2 I like winter at Boston :tanya_daijoubu: When it's not icy, you can enjoy skiing/snowboarding around NH/ME areasWith proper gear, cold is not terrible, except plumbing after every single blizzardWish the heater bill would be more affordable tho.The only problem with Boston is the people overeall... too woke, so many immigrants who don't understand basic English, terrible drivers, potholes, etc. Kirsche always talks about that btw.
