       @tomjennings search is failing me but someone around 1900~ designed an electric organ music distribution system. the idea was like a player piano but for early electric organ (synthesizer) which would blast the voltage down wires run out to individual houses, and the thing would play on rotation 24/7 like what radio became. i believe they even built this out in a small area in one city but no one liked it because it sounded like you can imagine
