I've heard everyone is going to OnShape so they can just do it In The Cloud.

Hi @Nathan,@Luanti + #meshport on raspian/raspberry pi 400s to model (9 year olds at @traunstein do that) and then #prusaslicer and a prusa-mini to print.

@mro @traunstein @Luanti Hi Marcus, I'm familiar with minetest, are you making your models in that game engine? Meshport is a mystery to me and my search is resulting mostly in bluetooth headset sales. Can you elaborate?

Hi @Nathan @traunstein @Luanti,yes, the kids love it and we export the blocks with https://content.luanti.org/packages/random_geek/meshport/.Sometimes it's a bit finnickey but usually does the job.https://jugendhacktlab.qdrei.info/blog/2024-08-05-ferien-i/1080p/alpaka-16/screenshot_20240806_140401_--_1080p_300x.png

@Nathan Unfortunately there is no software for the kernel, Linux that does 3D printing. There are 2 extensively developed free CAD packages for GNU/Linux - FreeCAD and OpenSCAD.FreeCAD has a nice GUI, while you type in the math for the shape in OpenSCAD.(You need to be careful with FreeCAD, as part of the community attacks people with proprietary malware (github and evil Anubis)).FreeCAD can export to .step and G-code, thus it doesn't seem you need an additional slicer.

@Suiseiseki it sounds like OpenSCAD is my type of software. I've not created anything of my own to print yet, I'm still learning the nuances of this machine. Thus far I'm using Slic3r as it's the only one I've found that doesn't want information from me (sign-up/log-in).

@Nathan That appears to in fact be free software, licensed under the AGPLv3-ambigious and free software doesn't tend to contain antifeatures like an account requirement.
