       hot take: esports are only real sports if the game is self-hosted and moddable. like, anyone can buy a baseball bat and play however they want, and you can also do that with some retro games because of emulators, but if you try that with e.g. LoL you'll get banned.y'know what we call stuff where you can only play if a certain company says so? that's a game show. at best.
