Clarification on the requirement to mark NSFW media uploads as sensitive content. Your account may have all its posts automatically marked as sensitive if you do not consistently apply the warning to NSFW content. Since there is no ability to apply sensitive content warnings to profile pictures and header images, NSFW pfp and banners will be deleted as they are discovered.

Clarification on copyright. Uploaded content from mass media such as comics, shows, movies or video games are generally fine and will not be removed. If you post commissions, not only must you credit the artist but you must clearly state in the post that the uploaded media is a commission. For example: “A commission I got from <creator name>”

Clarification on AI generated content.Accounts mostly dedicated to posting AI generated content may be suspended at staff discretion. This rule will go into effect starting September 1st, 2025 and will not apply to retroactive content. Staff will generally not ban users if works are AI assisted or the AI media does not make up the majority of content found on the account beginning September 2025. You will know the warning is applied because the icon should be highlighted.The “Content warning” text field is optional, and I generally only recommend that you write something there if the content is extreme like guro, gore, scat or toddlercon.

@CFWCoreRevived it gets blurry because some 3DCG content creators can use models imported from video games but composite the media with a high level of detail and lighting, which likely ought to be posted as “Quiet public”. Yet that same video game model could be rendered with less realistic lighting and would be fine. I don’t play much games, but I do not think models from DoA, FF or ME are particularly realistic. What comes to mind are models from the Last of Us or Resident Evil.

@satori however, when I post art by my staff I usually don't credit them. Because those aren't really "commissions", in that case I am posting on behalf of the Candy Universe, and all my staff artists know I don't generally credit them on every comic page post, or promotional post, it makes it feel too casual like I'm just comm'ing random artists, when those posts are business related for the comic site I host.Hopefully that will still be okay under new terms.

I don't know if you consider my realistic renders as stylized since my lighting is not too realistic (I use the same/similar lighting as my anime renders) and is seen as "yeah, that's definitely from a game". or if I should just set all my newer realistic renders to Quiet public for now on. @Aurora until the foreseeable future that allows all manner of SFW art to be publicly posted.Also, while I sympathize with the loss of exposure of 3D content due to this policy update, I find it rather disappointing that you adopt similar language as some AI content creators in being condescending towards “cartoon and shit quality stuff” as though 3D content, often composited from imported models and not hand sculpted themselves, are more beautiful or worth more than drawn illustrations here.

@Aurora that would at least work with imported models of video game characters, but there are also a lot of imported models outside of popular media.I’ve actually had this discussion before with a 3D creator that imports their models and heavily modifies them, and they took major offense at the suggestion to use extra tags to disclaim that they did not sculpt the model from scratch. To them, it implies they are not a real artist.

@satori @Aurora Generally speaking, anyone who is unable to output a decent amount of compositional sense or at least create their own assets from scratch should not be called an artist. Most of the people who insist on being called artists despite failing to prove themselves as such tend to just be basic Daz Studio users who refuse to at least do the Blender donut tutorial, while also demanding that they be treated the same as full on 3D modelers and animators.

But for dedicated AI content posting, please consider making an alt account elsewhere such as dill.burggit.moeThere is nothing wrong with having multiple accounts on the fediverse for different things.

@enshrowd @SnowKitsune @xgrt_2654 I realize that the new policy severely limits exposure of certain 3DCG content creators, and it brings me no joy to have to enforce it. I also don’t want to be misunderstood as disrespecting the craft and effort it takes to make such content. The ideal long term solution is that 3D content creators host their own fediverse servers using software such as Mastodon or Misskey, to help share the burden of liability that I alone bear in hosting baraag.

@xgrt_2654 I recognize that what is considered NSFW is subjective to different community standards, but at staff discretion I would say that the policy against NSFW pfp and banners applies specifically to explicit content and not clothes covered pinups.

@brokenscale the media storage cost rises year after year and I don’t want the added costs of accounts which dedicate themselves to uploading AI generated content. Yes, I want AI content creators to make their own instance server to share the burden of this cost, especially with how the fediverse works in that it would mean that baraag users can still fully interact with them on their own server. With all due respect as well, I do not care if you think my response is not to your satisfaction.

@Laylaromero it is okay as long as the gifted AI content does not make up the majority of your posts. If you plan on posting a lot of AI content of your character you received by other people, I ask that you make an alt account on a different instance server dedicated to it.

@iamaquulei looking at your work it does not subjectively appear to be too hyperrealistic in rendered detail and is clearly 3DCG enough to not be limited from the timeline. Also understand that the new ToS only bans AI, it does not ban realistic 3DCG.

@satori hi! Does this rule apply to anything 3D Art or only underage characters?I definitely don't make NSFW of underage that might look too realistic but I do tend to do NSFW of adult characters in 3Dare mine clearly fake and can I still upload them? or no?
