Some notes on the "Either you embrace AI, or get out of this career" fuzz:If you read the original post by Dohmke (which is rather dull, can't recommend), you will discover the original context of his quote, which is:' “Either you have to embrace the Al, or you get out of your career” one developer said.' So some random unnamed dev said that (but actually no - read what they really say!), and Dohmke went with it, his own way, blithely ignorant of the original intent. lolIn total they supposedly interviewed 22 developers, none of them named, no background whatsoever given - ok?The 22 unnamed folks "believe" that "within 2 years" or "within 5 years" (they swear, bro!) 90% of their code will be "AI-written", Dohmke himself repeatedly states "This is already reality" and such, but seemingly has no interest to report how things are right now, instead sticking to conjecture.Another quote: «One developer said “I think of myself as [a] mediocre engineer, and I feel this AI reset is giving me a chance to build skills that will bring me closer to excellence.”». Maybe imposter syndrome idk, but to believe that delegating their work to an AI will bring them closer to excellence ... uhh.The image for his post is a (stolen Ghibli aesthetic) genAI image of toy blocks built on thin air.In reality, it would collapse.

@freebliss I find it intuitive that a key part of building myself is doing the work, well, myself. How do these people not trip over their own fallacies?

@ozzelot beats me. x) Dohmke himself states in the post that people would still need to be expert software developers to "architect and verify the implementation work that is carried out by AI agents." The quote is completely misplaced against that background too ...
